The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body established in terms of the Engineering Profession Act (EPA), 46 of 2000. The Engineering Councils` primary role is the regulation of the engineering profession in terms of this Act. Its core functions are the accreditation of engineering programmes, registration of persons as candidates, professionals and professional specified categories, as well as the regulation of the practice of Registered Persons.

The ECSA website was a static website that needed to be re-engineered as a robust, user-centric digital platform and supports its mandate as the statutory regulator of the engineering profession in South Africa. The platform needed to enable efficient access to core functions including programme accreditation, professional registration, and regulatory compliance, while serving a diverse audience of candidates, professionals, institutions, and stakeholders. Key requirements include a structured information architecture, secure user portals, document and application management systems, and clear process-driven user journeys. The solution must prioritise accessibility, transparency, and operational efficiency, positioning ECSA as a modern, digitally enabled regulatory authority.

The GENO team, in conjunction with Zindela Communications, transformed the platform into a streamlined, process-driven digital ecosystem—simplifying access to accreditation, registration, and regulatory services. The result? A secure, user-friendly platform that improves efficiency, enhances stakeholder experience, and reinforces ECSA’s role as the trusted authority in the engineering profession.

In regulation, clarity and efficiency are everything — your platform should enable both. Ready to modernise? GENO is here to help.
