The solution was a web-based scheduling tool that gave branch managers visibility of inventory nationally.
If Dr Smith at Helen Joseph was scheduled to perform a heart bypass surgery, the pack required to perform the surgery would be identified. If the required pack was not available at the local branch, inventory from Durban could be booked and reserved for the scheduled date.
Instruments within the packs could also be itemized and accounted for before and after the procedure.
